Hello Maria.

Thank you for this opportunity! Two years ago, my niece told me that all she wanted for her birthday was to drive from home (Miami) to Downtown Disney to get her face-painted and the Character Makeover. She didn’t even ask to go to any of the parks (which we surprised her and tool her anyways). I would love these tickets to see that same smile on her face again!

Thank you!

Congratulations Luis!

Winner has been notified via email. Thanks to all who participated!

Disney pulls all stops for A Christmas Carol Train Tour May 9, 2009

Disney's A Christmas Carol Teaser Poster at Orbitmom.wordpress.com

All Aboard!
I couldn’t help myself.
Disney’s A Christmas Carol will be out in theatres on November 6th 2009 and stars the hilarious Jim Carrey.
So what’s so extraordinary about this? Well, they’re promoting the film through a Train Tour across America. It’ll have lots of great family fun activities and the amazing part? It will be FREE. So check the links for the info on when it comes to your town, I’ll be taking my family in October.
I think it’s great to see Disney doing a free promotional tour with such an awesome looking film (it’s 3D by the way). They are partnering with HP and I’m sure that offsets costs, but I still think that’s cool.

Disney on Ice: Worlds of Fantasy March 31, 2009

Lightning McQueen and Friends

Lightning McQueen and Friends

Worlds of Fantasy Flyer
I have two boys. They love cars. Princesses and fairies…well, that’s not their thing you know. So when I say that my boys equally enjoyed watching Lightning McQueen and Tinkerbell, it’s a testament to how awesome the Disney on Ice production was. We went Thursday, opening night and it was wonderful. Almost like a piece of central FL made its way down to our backyard. The show is called “Worlds of Fantasy” and features characters from Cars, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and the latest Tinkerbell movie. It has the magic and detail that you expect a Disney production to have. I adored the costumes and kept wondering how on earth anyone could ice skate as some of the characters, like Pumba! The boys were clapping and taking their own pictures. My husband looked on to see if he could figure out the engineering that took place behind the actual cars on ice. We all had fun. The segments that are generally geared for the girls were fast moving enough to keep my boys attention. If you have a girl that’s a princess in her own right, be sure to get there early for the Princess Pre Show, which is included in your admission ticket. Oh, and if you are looking for a way to get a deal on tickets, I suggest the family four pack deal: 4 tickets for $44 using the code MOM at ticketmaster.com (if you have more in your group it’ll be just $11 for each additional ticket). Not a bad way to spend a night with the family and enjoy a little Disney Magic!

Metro Zoo March 31, 2009

Visiting the zoo has become a regular outing in our family. Although every time I go, I forget to bring the kids swim wear and towels. There are so many splash fun areas, that it’s difficult to keep them out of the water when walking to exhibits. There is even a water table play area in the new Amazon exhibit area where kids can turn wheels and have some splash fun. My sons haven’t played there yet, and I promised them we’d come back for sure on a sunny day with towels on hand. For me it’ll be a chance to make my 3rd attempt to see the new Jaguar. He seems to be missing each time I go see him. Speaking of missing, where has the Anaconda gone? I’ll be sure to ask these questions next time we go.
If you go you should check out these promotions/special events coming up:
• You can get $5 off your admission on a return visit within 5 days of your original visit with your original ticket stub. I’m not sure how long this promotion runs, but it sure sounds great right now with the kids on spring break soon.
• The www.momsmiami.com 1st year celebration party takes place on April 7th. If you want to get in free, go to momsmiami.com to print out a coupon for free admission for two if you are one of the first 100 attendees on April 7th to their first birthday celebration. Go to www.MomsMiami.com for details.
• The annual Easter egg hunt will take place on April 11th and 12th. With younger kids eager to get out and hunt for eggs, this is a great deal on its own with it being one of few attractions nearby that has reasonable priced admission and NO parking fee.
• As if these weren’t enough deals to mention there is also a coupon for $20 off an annual family membership in the clipper magazine this month, so be sure to check through your mail.

Monsters vs Aliens March 25, 2009

Filed under: OrbitMom Approved Family Outings — orbitmom @ 5:15 am

DreamWorks’ latest, Monsters vs. Aliens, already has my son imitating his favorite new monster B.O.B. “I’m just kidding, I don’t have a back!” Altogether, our family headed out to the advance screening earlier this evening…we beat the rain showers and had a pretty decent escape from the world.

I can pass judgment on the animated films of today. After all, I have the distinct pleasure of repaying some 50 plus animated titles to my young one over and over again…since three times just isn’t enough in a week at times. This movie, though, had me swaying. I loved that the story is centered on a female, while still appealing to the guys with the supporting monsters providing an edge. Very funny…but, I’ll say most of the funny parts I felt I had already seen on TV commercials. There are so many characters to like in this film though; they picked a great cast to voice them. All that, with even a few throwbacks to ET (look/listen for them), and some bug related gross factor, I think parents and children both win. I suggest you check it out with your own clan. I suppose it’s only a matter of days before we head out to the theatre again, this time to watch it in 3D……and trust me, if it’s one thing that I could tell it was that this film was made to be enjoyed in 3D!!! Now when are they going to make 3D viewing at home more attainable???

Thanks to www.momsmiami.com for the passes!
